Have Patience

In my last post I talked about God and the fact that He is not slow, rather he is provident. I have often said that we need to be very clear that while we may control the destiny of our past successes and failures, there is no such thing as an inevitability of future events. He alone is provident and by the counsel of His own will has planned our destiny.

Patience is the ability to trust that life is going to work out as God planned and to be able to surrender to our work what we have at the moment at the highest level, while we are believing God for our future.

I have faith and confidence that what God has said to me will not fail. In Patience is the ability to wait peacefully when everything in me wants to rush ahead and make something happen.

In America we have the propensity to live microwave lives. We have the drive through or even drive by mentality. Because of how we have been conditioned, it is very difficult to understand surrender. Surrender is a by-product of Patience. Surrender is not giving yourself over to your bad situation. It is choosing to loose yourself into the hands of God by not to fighting the situation and understanding that it will work together with other things for your good.

Wikipedia defines Patience as: the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. Patience is the level of endurance one can take before negativity.

While Patience can be incredibly challenging to exhibit in certain situations, it is utterly indispensable for living a Kingdom life. There is power in Patience. If properly utilized, it will keep us from making mistakes that could have been avoided. It is our best weapon of defense against stupidity and our greatest tool to helping us accomplish greatness in God.

To operate in Patience you must have self control. Self control implies that we have a responsibility to evaluate and determine our best plan of action rather than just responding to immediate impulses. Sometimes the best plan of action is to simply just wait.

Today's 5 Minute Matter:The Scriptures teach that the footsteps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord. Having ordered steps is not the same as having GPS. It is more like having GPS with turn by turn directions. God does more than tell you where you are located. He plans your way and He lays the path out for you AS you walk. Now that's Kingdom Intelligence for you.
